D+H UK were asked to come up with an effective, certified fire ventilation solution at The Frontage Student Accommodation.

The Frontage, a Hello Student facility, places emphasis on student safety, and achieves this through 24 hour CCTV, a secure electronic entry system and a completely certified smoke ventilation system.

The building is mixed use with the upper floors contain 173 self-contained studios, the ground floor hosting retail, and the lower ground floor which is used as amenity space for the residents of the student accommodation. This floor contains a number of features, including a private gym, on-site cinema, games room, communal lounge, and work rooms.

D+H UK created a bespoke solution using discrete ventilation grills throughout the accommodation, both internal and external. All of which are connected by a hidden system of fire rated duckwork.

D+H UK supplied, manufactured and installed the SID SE galvanised fire rated ductwork, complete with all fittings, bracketry, gaskets, seals, dampers and externally mounted fire rated fan sets with ancillaries. The ductwork is in accordance with H.F.D.SID Certifications, giving stability and integrity up to 60 minutes when tested to BS 476 Part 24:1987.

D+H UK also supplied and installed six Elta 630mm smoke clearance fans, each rated at 300OC.
