Meols Cop High School

Project details
GDL have recently competed the project to design, manufacture and install a bespoke Octagonal shaped Natural Ventilation Turret at Meols Cop High School in Southport, Merseyside.

GDL worked alongside Mechanical Building Services Engineers James Mercer Ormskirk and Main Contractors Capita Symonds to design a Natural Ventilation Turret suitable for the School extension yet architecturally pleasing.

Project overview
The School has recently undergone a significant extension to create a library, an IT suite and two additional classrooms. A Natural Ventilation solution was selected as the most appropriate ventilation method for the school’s newly built areas. Ventilation demand changes depending on the season and occupancy levels, In a school occupancy in each room varies throughout the day, so a controlled ventilation rate using natural ventilation would be both cost effective and energy efficient.

The design selected by the Architects was an Octagonal shaped Turret to create a focus point on the roof of the building. GDL designed, manufactured
