Merseyside Police are Secured by Design

Secured by Design Fencing from CLD Fencing Systems is protecting a new £48million Operational Command Centre for Merseyside Police.

The new centre will play host to more than 1,200 officers and support staff including the Merseyside Police’s MSOC (Matrix and Serious and Organised Crime).

Located on Estuary Business Park in Speke, the new Merseyside Police Operational Command Centre features over 640lnm of CLD’s Ultimate Extra SR1, the system holds both LPS1175 SR1 and is accredited to Secured by Design.

Construction started in March 2016, with construction and infrastructure company Morgan Sindnall being appointed as principle contractors for the project.

The three-storey building takes prime position on the 11.4-acre site that also plays host to a separate, single storey building which will provide administrative and support services.

The site has been designed to provide car parking and land for dog exercise and training.

CLD Fencing Systems worked direct with Merseyside Police to design a system from its Secured by Design range of Fencing and Gate solutions that would be able to offer a guaranteed delay against attack whilst still maintaining an aesthetically pleasing demarcation option.

The system of choice was the Ultimate Extra SR1 which is unique to CLD Fencing Systems and offers a reduced mesh aperture of 165 x 25mm with 6mm wires.

Another key security feature of the system is the removal of any external fixings on the attack face due to the SafeTFix Hidden Fixing system that is featured on all Ultimate Extra SR1 systems.

The fencing system was installed in March 2017 to provide a secure demarcation for the site whilst construction work was carried out, each panel was fitted with branded Morgan Sindall advertising to create a clean and clear construction site.

The final site features the latest in security, safety and design and forms an integral part of the Commissioner’s 10-year strategy to transform and modernise Merseyside Police’s station and facilities.
