Metal Technology's System 17 SP Curtain Walling used at Biggin Hill

Metal Technology has completed work on a new state of the art hangar and VIP facility at historic Biggin Hill Airport, designed by SHH architects.

The London 2012 Olympics created demand for hangar and airport capacity in the south of England, resulting in a substantial investment in infrastructure at Biggin Hill. Over 680 extra flights were expected into the city’s airports during the two-week period of the Olympics and Biggin Hill, only 15 miles from central London, prepared for a surge in traffic carrying visiting heads of state, politicians and corporate executives from around the world.

The high-specification scheme, with its contemporary façade, demanded high quality finishes and materials. To meet this requirement, Metal Technology provided their System 17 SP Curtain Walling on the 13 000 sq m two-storey building. SP Curtain Walling employs silicone-pointed double-glazed units which are fixed with concealed fixings into the system to give clean, uninterrupted external lines, creating a sleek appearance with high aesthetic values. As with all MT systems, SP Curtain Walling is manufactured to exacting standards, always meeting, and in many cases exceeding, current building regulation requirements.

The new building includes all the luxury amenities required by business and private travellers, and was commissioned by international aviation company RizonJet. RizonJet provides a comprehensive suite of private aviation services and has a mission to deliver top quality services combining traditional Arabic hospitality with world-renowned aviation standards.
