Several years ago, Highgate school in North London decided to embark upon an improvement programme to upgrade the security of the sites and to increase safeguarding of the pupils.
The main element was to remove old low level railings consisting of many designs scattered around the school sites and to provide new higher railings of a standard design to define Highgate School properties.
Highgate School surveyors contacted Metalcraft to request their design input and propose a railing that was modern in design, but would also be in keeping with many of the period buildings around the estate.
Metalcraft proposed their railing design TR129/53 with Metalcraft standard forged railing heads on railing bars and cast iron finials on the main posts.
Samples were produced and approved prior to full production. The metalwork was galvanised and powdercoated black before installation. Metalcraft were also employed to make good the kerb edging and the tarmac surface as part of the works.
Highgate School were delighted with the design and Metalcraft have been commissioned to provide and fit railings on numerous sites around the estate.
