Mixed housing apartments, Stratford, London

Client: Galliford Hodgeson Ltd
Architect: Stock Woolstencroft
Fabricator: Magnum Aluminium Products Ltd
Type of works: design and installation of fixings for new residential development

The design of the envelope using different textures and façade materials resulted in this eye-catching development. Creative use of aluminium provided the glazed façade, whilst blue rainscreen panelling created texture within insulated rendered brickwork.

Due to the nature of this project, Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems was involved at an early stage to provide design drawings and fixing advice for the project. This close involvement in the design stage resulted in a smooth running project that was completed to site deadlines.

Comar 2 was used to create the Grey stairwells and framing to the elevations which was abutted to the structural steel openings. Integrated into the framing were top-hung, open out Comar 5 windows, which, for safety, were fitted with friction stays and restrictors.
Comar 7 doors were used both in the retail outlets and entrances to the flats. The light airy feel to shops was created using Comar 2 framing with toughened safety glass with a span of 2,500mm x 2,000mm.
