Type of works: supply of Forbo Marmoleum® with Topshield for bar area floorcovering.
The Point Hotel in Edinburgh has unveiled a glamorous new look for Monboddo, its fashionable bar. Hotel guests and socialites alike have been commenting on its striking new look, which includes an eye-catching Marmoleum® floor.
Forbo Marmoleum® with Topshield is one of the worlds leading natural linoleum floorcoverings, offering strength of colour and a range of original textures and designs.
The stylish venue, redesigned by Edinburgh-based interior design agency KBA, exudes sophistication using a chic colour palette of Gold, Black and Jade. The impressive range of vibrant colours on offer from Forbos flagship Marmoleum® collection meant that KBA did not need to compromise on elegance and flair to achieve a practical flooring solution to fit its very specific colour scheme.
Marmoleum® Real in Peacock Green (3204) in 2.5mm sheet was chosen to cover the entire floor of Monboddo. The layout of the bar includes a central island bar, so it was essential the floorcovering could be cut to smoothly fit round curved walls and achieve a seamless finish. Marmoleum® was an ideal choice as it can easily be cut to any shape.
As part of a busy hotel, Monboddo bar is a high-traffic area and the flooring has to be resilient enough to cope with customers walking in off the street in all weathers. Marmoleums durability and long lifespan were deciding factors in its selection.
Bars can often suffer from sticky floors but Forbos Marmoleum® ensures that Monboddos floor is easy to clean. Marmoleum® is a natural, anti-static and bacteriostatic floorcovering with inherent health features, ensuring that there is no hiding place for bacteria and dust mites. Its smooth surface prevents dirt and dust from penetrating, and Forbos Topshield finish guarantees ease of maintenance, lower whole-life costs and better appearance retention.
Marmoleum® has been awarded Allergy UKs Seal of Approval, providing a healthy environment for bar staff and drinkers.
Neil Ellis, General Manager of the Point Hotel, says: We chose Marmoleum because of its ease of maintenance and striking colour. We needed a hardwearing flooring which could withstand all the spills and heavy footfall associated with running a busy bar while looking fantastic. Its such a striking feature, we have even named our signature cocktail after its colour, Jade.
The installation was undertaken by McKenzie flooring contractors.
The flexibility of Marmoleum® makes it a stylish and practical, yet highly cost-effective choice for a diverse range of environments requiring a material to withstand heavy and constant footfall.
It provides an attractive, sustainable flooring solution that offers best value and has outstanding performance in terms of durability and hygiene.
