Perimeter safety barriers with anti-climb mesh for four storey car park adjacent to and serving Preston main line railway station. Also barriers
for ramps, ramp returns and for pipework and lighting column protection.
735m Barrier Rail mounted on RB1X Spring Steel Buffers connected to integral handrail and anticlimb mesh. 450m of twice force Barrier Rail and Flexi-Post system at 800mm centres. 223m of Barrier Rail Ramp Protection system mounted on RB1X 76 x 12mm Spring Steel Buffers. 72m of Barrier Rail Ramp Return Protection system mounted on RB1X 76 x 12mm Spring Steel Buffers with anti-climb mesh and handrail. 45 Rainwater Pipe Protection units comprising Double Warehouse Rail and RB1 Spring Steel Buffers.
Berry Systems have continued their work in the rail sector with the supply and installation of safety barriers at the new Preston Station multi-storey car park. The new four storey 550 space car park was designed for main contractor Galliford Try by Corus and Royden Engineering fabricated and erected the structural steelwork. For general perimeters, ramps and ramp returns RB1X Spring steel buffers were used at 1,200mm centres and fitted with barrier rail.
Where twice force performance was required at aisle ends and opposite down ramps, Flexi-Posts fitted with barrier rail at 800mm centres were used. All perimeter and ramp return barriers incorporated integral handrails and anti-climb mesh. Short lengths of double warehouse rail fitted with high visibility yellow end caps were mounted onto RB1 buffers to protect pipework on intermediate decks and lighting columns on the top deck.
The new car park was included in a total project valued at £11.2m for Network Rail and Virgin Trains and forms part of their programme to upgrade car parking facilities along the West Coast Main Line.
