New Power Inverter Range Offers Unique Replaceability

Mitsubishi Electric has launched a new range of Mr Slim models incorporating power inverter technology to offer even more flexibility and choice for small to medium sized applications.

The 2009 Power Inverter Series has seen an increase in energy efficiency across the entire range with the majority of these systems now achieving an Energy Rank A rating. Models are also available with Mitsubishi Electric’s unique Replace technology to allow for easier upgrade from existing R22 systems.

The 12 outdoor units in the power Inverter line-up have a cooling capacity ranging from 3.6 to 22kW and a heating capacity from 4.1 to 27kW to deliver COPs of up to 4.61. All have a unified side-flow configuration, a small footprint and the range includes an increased pipe run of up to 120m, making it suitable for many installations. The units can link to a choice of 34 different indoor units to offer single, twin, triple or quadruple configurations.

“We have looked at the entire system and improved on just about every area from the fan design to the size of the interior piping in the heat exchanger,” explained Philip Ord, Product Marketing Manager for the range.

The shapes of the fan and grille of the outdoor unit have been completely redesigned, leading to an increase in blowing capacity and more efficient heat exchange whilst still reducing operating noise levels. In addition, the fan speed during cooling can be automatically reduced when the outdoor temperature drops at night, resulting in a further noise reduction of 3dB.

The fan has a newly designed rear edge which suppresses wind turbulence and raises the fan’s operation efficiency. The opening for the fan has been increased from 490 to 550mm and the grille shape has been redesigned to reduce pressure loss and improve heat exchange performance.

The design of the heat exchanger has also been improved by increasing the density of the coils and by extending the heat exchanger horizontally, resulting in an increased surface area which has improved the heat exchanger efficiency for the larger models in the range.

The new Mr Slim Power Inverter range is available now.
