NewMotion to upgrade North Somerset charge points

NewMotion has won a contract with North Somerset council to upgrade their existing charge points.

NewMotion will convert the existing Charge Your Card charge points and incorporate them in to its offering of over 30,000 cloud connected smart charge points.

The new charge points will allow EV drivers to charge their vehicles using state of the art chargers and enable residents to make greener journeys.

The conversion from the old provider will be carried out by Elmtronics.

Carl Nicolson, Fleet Manager at Somerset County Council said, “We are really excited to be working with NewMotion as it has a great track record of offering stable and reliable charge points and quality service to customers.

“The new charge points will allow us to continue our fight to reduce pollution in North Somerset and aid us in our bid to be one of the greenest counties in the UK.”

North Somerset council aim to expand their growing network of charge points throughout 2017 with the help of NewMotion.

The UK Country Manager for NewMotion, Sander van der Veen said, “We can’t wait to start working on the existing charge points in North Somerset and bring them into our newtowrk.”

“With NewMotion, users will be able to use any charger, no matter what charge card they have and with our app they can get in line to queue for a charge it is not available ensuring they are altered as soon as the charge point becomes available.”

NewMotion allows businesses and private users to charge their electric vehicles using smart technology that monitors usage and manages costs.
