Aberdeen International Airport contacted Gramm Barrier Systems looking for a complete package to design, supply and install an 8m high Noise Barrier+ continuous strip foundation.

The brief was to design a double sided highly absorptive acoustic barrier that could withstand the extreme high winds for the location and enable the barrier to be installed adjacent to a live operating helicopter terminal and tie between two existing airside buildings.

The barrier chosen for the project was Gramm’s PLANTA double sided noise barrier system as it offered the high level of sound reductions required + the durability to withstand the extreme weather conditions.

Gramm’s main challenge for this project was designing an 8M High environmental barrier that could not only withstand the wind pressures but also the back wash pressure caused by the nearby operating jet engine helicopters and aircraft.
