Old Brewery homes transformed using Tobermore block paving

The Challenge

To revive The Old Brewery, whilst maintaining its historic appearance

Located off the main square in the Cathedral City of Salisbury, The Old Brewery is a collection of refurbished contemporary listed homes that have been arranged around a courtyard space with gated access. This is a unique development with buildings dating back over 500 years old. The new development has been built to enable the conservation of the listed buildings, enhancing the value of the site.

With this in mind, it was important that the paving aligned with the historic appearance of the location. Traditional style paving was required for the communal courtyard, walkways and parking bays outside the homes.

The Solution

Tobermore’s Tegula block paving provides a vintage, antique finish.

Tegula block paving in Charcoal and Tegula Setts in Natural were chosen to give The Old Brewery a vintage aesthetic which aligned perfectly with the history of the site. Both the pedestrian and parking areas required an attractive yet durable solution to help seamlessly blend the old and new.

The client fully embraced the complimentary paving visualisations provided by Tobermore. Using a 3D project visual from the architect, Tobermore presented a selection of paving options for the communal courtyard and paths. The paving visuals proposed, enabled the developer to envision how the hard landscaping could complement the project. Opting for a visualisation is the ideal way to ‘try before you buy’ and increase confidence when selecting products.

Tobermore’s vintage themed Tegula block paving in Charcoal was chosen as the primary hard landscaping material. Tegula Setts were used around the walkways and to delineate parking spaces. Tegula not only fulfilled the design brief, but also resulted in cost savings for the customer.
