OMK Design Ltd was founded in 1965 by Designer and Director Rodney Kinsman RDI, who initially designed domestic furniture sold in Habitat and then in the 1970s internationally. In 1980 OMK was approached by the British Airport Authority (BAA) to design a seating system for the new North Terminal at Gatwick Airport.

OMK Design Ltd was founded in 1965 by Designer and Director Rodney Kinsman RDI, who initially designed domestic furniture sold in Habitat and then in the 1970s internationally. In 1980 OMK was approached by the British Airport Authority (BAA) to design a seating system for the new North Terminal at Gatwick Airport.
Transit, the first public seating product by OMK, was the result of this. Using the knowledge gained from decades of domestic seating design, and applying it to the public seating market, Transit was a success and supplied over 3500 seats to this project alone. These seats remained in use over 20 years, further pushing Rodney’s ethos of high-quality, long-lasting products, and our current line up offers long warranties up to 25 years.
Due to the strong success of Transit, OMK Design moved fully into the public seating sector, with a range of innovative products such as Trax, our largest customisable seating system, and Flite, our high density seating and our latest system - Metro.
OMK Design Ltd have supplied and installed in excess of 60,000 beam seats during the last 25 years to over 300 international airports in various sites including Europe, Middle East, North America, Africa and Asia. These projects have involved OMK working closely with architects, airport authorities and contractors in both planning and execution.
