Cavity Trays of Yeovil has announced the withdrawal of its fire-rated loft hatch with a fire integrity rating of one hour. In its place Cavity Trays is offering a high-performance two-hour rated version, at no additional cost.
Whilst a one hour rated hatch is adequate in most applications, we believe this cost-attractive higher specification model will appeal, commented a Company spokesman. The hatch has been independently tested and has achieved a two-hour rating, but is being offered at exactly the same price as versions offering half the protection.
Providing additional protection is not new to the Yeovil-based company. It recently upgraded many of its acoustic and fire-rated caviclosers, and now offers many styles with integrity ratings of up to four hours.
Similarly it has altered the shape of its horizontal cavity sock/closer that is manufactured with sloping upper and lower surfaces. Unlike conventional rectangular cavity socks, the Type SAF version from Cavity Trays cannot act as a bridge for water to reach an inner skin, as the sloping surface always directs water forward. It promotes a more reliable build detail and overcomes many installation shortcomings, commented its spokesman.
Details of Cavity Trays acoustic and fire-rated products are available upon request.
