The Hunter Douglas solid wood system is available in both open and closed formats that can be specified as either a fixed or demountable system, allowing easy access into the plenum. The systems design ensures that the panels remain level and straight in all situations, including large, flat areas, externally and in swimming pool environments. One recent example of the options afforded by the linear open ceiling systems flexibility and completed in April this year is the Eugene Sellors, SLuRP design Ltd scheme at Pentewan Sands Holiday Park near St Austell, Cornwall where the wave form design ceiling blends sympathetically with the building.
The Linear closed and open system can easily be installed in concave, convex, or as in the Pentewan Sands Holiday Park scheme, undulating curved patterns. The rail is pre-curved in the factory to the specified radius and in order to improve interior sound control, the Hunter Douglas Linear Wood panels are provided with an acoustic felt, glued at the top of the joint. To further enhance the acoustic properties, sound absorbing mineral wool panels can be laid over the panels.
There is an extensive choice of wood species available, ranging from the deep warm colours including Western Red Cedar, Merbau or Mahogany to the light wood tones of Poplar, Maple or Ayous. Upon request almost every kind of wood the design requires can be used and also the wood can be finished in transparent lacquer or stained in any colour.
