Aliva UK’s sponsored lion is live in the centre of Sheffield as part of the Pride of Yorkshire sculpture trail, Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity’s fundraising campaign to raise vital funds to support the next chapter of life changing care for children.

Our Regional Sales Manager for the North Andy Fletcher, joined our lion’s artist Rob Lee and Sophie Coburn, Corporate Partnerships Manager from the charity, to mark OutLion’s location on the trail, in Pinstone Street in the heart of Sheffield.

The Pride of Yorkshire sculpture trail has brought 150 life sized lions and lionesses individually decorated by regional artists, to streets, parks and public spaces across Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley this summer, running until 8th September.

Our lion’s artist Rob used his art technique called perspective anamorphosis to create the design for OutLion. It creates an optical illusion by bringing colour palettes inspired by the lion’s habitat together with a silhouette of its shape that repeats concentrically to its centre.

The sculpture project is celebrating 150 years of the Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The charity’s most ambitious fundraising campaign to date, all the money raised from the Pride of Yorkshire trail will support the redevelopment of the Emergency Department at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

The £20 million project aims to redevelop the existing Emergency Department, transforming it to be a calm, child-friendly space that reduces fear and anxiety, supports recovery, and enables the teams to deliver the very best emergency care.
