Bardon Contracting have delivered over £5m of development and maintenance works at Oxford Airport. These works have included refurbishing and upgrading runways and providing the base for a new hangar with associated apron reinforcement.
Planning and resurfacing including the use of Marshal Asphalt; full depth pavement repairs: concrete reinforcement; ducting; drainage; hard landscaping; runway re-profiling; de-lethalisation of obstructions and runway ends.
We have created carefully controlled logistics delivery plans to co-ordinate the movement of bulk volume materials such as asphalt within this controlled environment.
Communication and induction processes have ensured delivery drivers and supply chain partners are fully aware of the rules and regulations surrounding airside driving under escort conditions.
We have developed communication processes with airfield ground operations/control tower with the approval of the overseeing organisation to ensure day to day airside operations are not impacted by the works and movement of vehicles.
Our airside experience at this site has created a large and capable team of managers and resources with the necessary security clearance and flight-line training. Robust, tailored control measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of airfield operations whilst works take place.
By working closely with Air Traffic Control and our design partner Scott Wilson we have been able to plan and deliver works around critical areas of the site including the full depths repairs to the apron adjacent to the tower itself and the widening and resurfacing of the entire 01-19 runway, all with minimal disruption and zero overruns.
This collaborative working relationship has been embraced by our specialist supply chain partners, who have assisted in the installation of a number of significant electronic systems including a new Instrument Landing System.
