Overview
Reinforced was appointed to design and deliver a suite of bespoke Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) components for Oxford University’s new Humanities Concert Hall. The project required exceptional precision, complex geometries and seamless integration with multiple structural interfaces — a challenge the team was uniquely equipped to meet.
The Approach
Reinforced worked collaboratively with the project’s delivery teams throughout design development, coordination, and installation.
Key actions included:
Detailed digital modelling to reconcile geometry across multiple trades.
Early and continuous interface coordination to prevent clashes.
Prototyping and technical refinement to ensure each GRC piece functioned as intended.
Close communication with installation teams to guarantee a seamless on-site fit.
Outcome
Every GRC component was delivered with the high level of accuracy needed for this world-class concert venue. The final installation aligns precisely with the architect’s vision, supporting both the acoustic performance and the overall architectural quality of the space.
