Client: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)
Type of works: design and manufacture of a biometric platform with access control.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employed Human Recognition Systems to develop a biometric platform with access control and integrate it into PIA's workforce management system to help them improve the management of their 24,000 employees, across all of their international airports.
It was the largest deployment of a biometric solution in Pakistan with the solution utilising 150 networked hand readers deployed across Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi.
The solution integrated the biometric platform with the PIA employee information management system to deliver time and attendance verification with Mifare smartcard technology and hand geometry; authorisation of employee medical checks and the PIA staff travel programme.
HRS deployed the biometric access control solution to all secure staff entry points across the PIA estate, to verify the identity of each individual entering secure or sensitive areas. Pakistan International Airlines was the first biometric staff access scheme implemented by Human Recognition Systems.
