Client: Edgbaston High School for Girls
Architect: Malcolm Payne Group
Type of works: supply of Faber 2000 electrically-operated blackout roller blinds.
The building is a recently completed multi-purpose performing arts studio built for this large independent girls school catering for over 900 pupils in an age range from 2½ to 18 years. The building is octagonal in shape with a pitched roof rising to a ceiling height of 14m, incorporating the latest technology for acoustics and lighting. The blinds were installed to replace the blackout curtains originally installed, in order to achieve complete light exclusion.
The blinds are operated remotely by radio control from a central lectern in the room, and coupled so a single motor operates two blinds. Pile weatherstrips are included in the side channels and a flexible light exclusion strip fitted to the bottom bar for maximum light exclusion.
