Permeable paving is an essential Sustainable Drainage system (SuDS) designed to reduce flooding and remove harmful pollutants. Permeable paving blocks are manufactured with larger spacer nibs to create a gap between each block. This allows water to filter through the surface rather than running off it. The water passes through the joints and into a permeable sub-base below where it is stored and slowly released into the ground.

The solution to these problems is the use of more sustainable methods of storm water drainage, now referred to as SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems).
