Phoenix House was once home to tax offices and a basement level car park until it’s closure for some time. However developers proposed to regenerate the building and turn it into apartments.
In total, the building was converted into 149 luxury apartments, all of which comprise of two bedrooms, one ensuite, one bathroom and one kitchen and living area.
To maintain the high standards of the apartments, it was important that the correct soundproofing materials were used across multiple floor finishes. Many options were considered however Hush Acoustic’s Hush Panel 28 floating flooring was selected as this provides excellent sound reducing results. It was used throughout the bedrooms and living areas as a simple underlay, before the finished timber floor or carpets were laid. In the entrance hallways and wet rooms Detromat was installed over the Hush Panel 28 to form an anti-cracking surface.
With over a hundred men working on site at a given time, one 1000m2 floor was completed per week. Vascroft Construction had a strict schedule which Hush adhered to. Hush offered a Moffett offload facility before the materials were crane loaded to each floor.
Expert acoustic tests were carried out once the building was complete and showed the apartments exceeded the clients’ requirements.
