Pier Row and Pier Place, Port Marine, Portishead, Bristol

Product: Acme clay plain tiles Dark Brindle
Architect: BBA Architects and Planners for Crest Nicholson

Pier Row and Pier Place are a stylish collection of luxuriously appointed new homes with unrivalled views over the Severn estuary.

They are the second phase of Crest Nicholson's 900 strong Port Marine development and represent a residential area, that while it is an integral part of the overall picture, has its own architectural beauty to add further definition to the developer's striking concept.

A total of 150,000 Eternit tiles were used on the roofs of Pier Row and Pier Place. They were selected specifically for their visual appeal, their double camber adding texture and definition to the roof while the Dark Brindle adds variety.

Eternit's Acme tiles are produced in both smooth and sand-faced versions. The body colour of the smooth tiles is red/brown with minor tonal variations that result from the natural clay material. In the case of the brindled tiles used on this project, controlled variation of the kiln atmosphere during firing is used to produce a blend of natural fired colours. Acme sand-faced tiles are surfaced with selected sand before firing to add even more colour and texture.

Suitable for roof pitches down to 35°, the Acme range includes ornamental shaped tiles for roofs and wall hanging features. Manufactured in a kitemark factory to BS EN 1304, BS EN ISO 9001 and BS EN ISO 14001. Eternit's Acme tiles, like all Eternit plain tiles, are guaranteed for 100 years.
