Pilomat bollards reinforce security in St. Peter’s Square

It is estimated that Jubilee 2025 will bring around 32 million visitors to Rome over twelve months. To safeguard the heart of Christianity, access points to St. Peter’s Square are secured with 50 Pilomat anti-terrorism bollards.

Far more than simple urban elements, these are advanced hi-tech barriers capable of withstanding the impact of a 7.5-ton truck traveling at 80 km/h. The installation includes automatic, fixed, and removable models, some featuring a “shallow foundation” design with a low installation depth to avoid interference with underground infrastructure.

Ensuring selective access control and allowing millions of pilgrims to experience the Jubilee safely, Pilomat bollards combine industry-leading impact resistance with seamless integration into the architectural and monumental setting.

Macs Bollards did not complete this installation. However, they are the UK agent for Pilomat, so can provide the same quality bollards used within this project.
