Due to open in March 2012, the Plymouth Life Centre will be one of the country's leading centres of sporting excellence.
It will feature the only 50m pool in the south-west, a family leisure pool, eight lane bowls centre, and 12 court multi-use sports hall.
The £46.5 million project sees Plymouth's biggest ever investment in leisure facilities and underlines the City Council's commitment to getting more people into sport and improving the overall health and fitness of local residents.
It will also attract some of the region's top sportsmen and women, as well as a number of international Olympic teams preparing for London 2012.
To supply blocks less than 20Kg in weight to meet Health and Safety requirements for manual handling. The very tight and demanding delivery schedule also had to be adhered to.
Aggregate Industries was able to meet the weight criteria from a locally based production facility with access to lightweight aggregates, and worked with the dedicated haulier to complete guaranteed timed deliveries. Weekly site visits were arranged to agree a forward delivery schedule on a very restricted site.
Commenting for Aggregate Industries, Graham Husband, Regional Sales Manager said: The construction site was logistically very tight and required timed deliveries to meet the very demanding building programme. Aggregate Industries - Blocks performed to the highest customer service despite the delivery programme being constantly amended to meet the very difficult access restrictions and in consideration of the other site trades which hadnt the ability to be as flexible as Aggregate Industries."
