Client: Prestwick Airport
Type of works: supply and installation of new washroom facilities, including the Centurion cubicle range.
Prestwick airport, famous for being the only place in the UK that Elvis Presley ever visited, has a new kind of infamy. The onset of Ryanair's flights to Central and Eastern Europe from Glasgow prompted the start of a massive 326% rise in traffic, some from an unexpected source - the low-cost flights are hugely popular with stag and hen parties that regularly get underway in the departure lounge.
Although great news for Glasgow, the influx in traffic through the departure lounge took its toll on the facilities, making the £1.7million extension and refurbishment very welcome. All passengers now departing from Prestwick will benefit from the extra space, new seating and new washrooms.
Armitage Venestas hardwearing cubicle range, Centurion, designed to withstand the heaviest traffic, was installed to provide a lasting washroom solution with modern styling. Co-ordinating solid surface vanity units were also supplied by Venesta to ensure all passenger washrooms are of a consistently high standard of quality that will stand the test of time - and stag parties!
