A state-of-the-art addition to New York's American Museum of Natural History, the Richard Gilder Center seeks to broaden the general public's comprehension of science and increase opportunities for students to learn about it. People of all ages are invited to participate in the thrill of scientific discovery by the creative design that promotes exploration.
A new entrance at Columbus Avenue is part of the project, which also connects ten buildings and adds space for research, education, exhibitions, and collections. The natural processes that give rise to forms in nature provide the inspiration for the central atrium, which is an enthralling environment to explore. The vertical layout of the Gilder Center reduces energy consumption while simultaneously increasing the amount of natural light and air circulation inside the building, thanks to its eco-friendly design. Equipped with an insectarium, butterfly vivarium, and interactive exhibits, the center exemplifies the Museum's dedication to promoting understanding of the natural environment.
The exceptional post-impact performance and robustness of laminated glass with SentryGlas® made it the ideal choice for this project.
