Elite systems provided Edith Borthwick School with a quick modular classroom solution.

The school accommodates 220 pupils with learning difficulties aged 3-19 and due to ever expanding class sizes the school needed a fast solution to its need for more classroom space.

Elite Systems delivered a turnkey offsite constructions solution that included design, manufacture and installation of 190 sqm of classroom space. Along with an ample cold-pour rubber crumb play area, mains serviced and security fencing.

The modular building consisted of an entrance lobby with coat and shoe storage, two classrooms, two toilets and an accessible wetroom and WC. The doors throughout the building were selected to co-ordinate with the existing building.

The outside was clad in larch cladding and the windows and doors provided were anthracite aluminium.

Elite’s method of offside construction meant that the time on site was reduced to three week. Most of the work was completed in Elite’s factory in West Yorkshire and disruption onsite was minimal.

The installation proved to be an ecological solution; the insulated building was manufactured from sustainable timber and the use of LED lights and daylight dimming as well as an efficient heat pump system reduce the building’s carbon footprint.
