Railway fencing helps trains arrive on time

CLD Fencing Systems has provided its Dulok Double Wire Panel System for the new flyover at Norton Bridge. One of the last remaining bottlenecks on the West Coast Main Line has opened ahead of schedule allowing smoother and more reliable journeys for passengers on one of Europe’s busiest railway lines. The new flyover at has been designed to segregate intercity, commuter and freight traffic.

When looking at the security of the new section the need for secure railway fencing was a key aspect in the design process. Keeping trespassers away from the new track required the highest level of security railway fencing, that also had to fit in with the environmental aspects of the project. The CLD Fencing Systems Dulok Double Wire Panel System was selected, optimised with the shear drive fixing system.

In total, almost 11kms of Dulok Railway Fencing and 16 Lockmaster Swing Gates were supplied to The Fencing Partnership Ltd; the principle fencing contractor on the project by CLD Fencing Systems.

With the project initially timetabled for completion in 2017; thanks to CLD’s dedicated supply chain and the work by The Fencing Partnership the project was completed ahead of schedule and at 5:11am on 29th March 2016 the first train to use the new flyover completed the crossing. The last few months have seen the completion of all works on the line including major realignment of the B5026 highway.
