Renovation of former stable block

Renovation of former stable block

Dating to the early 1900s, a substantial renovation of this former stable block in Hampshire has recently been undertaken by local developer, Richard Elsmore.

The property is owned by Mr Allan, who purchased it in 2017 from an elderly couple living there at the time.

“The house needed rather extensive works throughout when I bought it, so I contracted Richard Elsmore as he is well known locally. Many of the rooms including the bathrooms needed a complete refit, and the windows and doors were in dire need of replacement” Mr Allan explains.

Through Richard, Dale Joinery were specified for the new windows and doors, as Richard has worked with them on multiple projects across Hampshire, and were an ideal solution for Mr Allan’s refurbishment project.

“All of the original windows and doors had a lead pattern, so when we were looking into replacements, we ensured that not all new products would have leaded detailing, so that the overall look wasn’t too busy.”

With the beautiful new timber windows and doors now in place, and the refitting of numerous rooms in the house now complete, Mr Allan is delighted that his home has been brought up to today’s standards, and has been able to put his stamp on the property.

THE DALE JOINERY SOLUTION

Feature French Doors
Creating quite the statement piece, a feature set of French timber doors with flush casement windows to both sides has been installed in Mr Allan’s home. Finished in the shade of ‘Pure White’ and enhanced with leaded light detailing, the new doors and windows provide easy access for Mr Allan and his dog into his beautiful garden.

Flush Casement Windows
Throughout the property, timeless timber flush casement windows with a classic astragal glazing bar formation were also installed. The new windows are in the same Pure White finish as the new French doors, and are partnered with Polished Brass Teardrop handles.

Entrance Door
With a desire to ensure his new windows and doors did not overly feature lead like their predecessors, a stylish Bolingbroke entrance door with a single sidelight was installed in Mr Allan’s study. With no astragal bars or leaded detailing, the new door provides a clean look, and fills the study with natural light.
