RigiSystems Ltd has signed exclusive, long-term distributor agreements with Alubond Europe to be the sole distributor of Alubond products in the UK, Republic of Ireland and France.
Alubond Europe is part of the world's largest manufacturer of aluminium composite materials (ACM), and their products are used in the manufacture of building facades, rainscreens and fascias, as well as in shop fitting and signage. Typified by extreme flatness and great durability, they can be formed into a variety of shapes and panel types.
Alubond USA is branded in the USA and worldwide by American Building Technologies Inc (ABTI), and in the UAE by Eurocon Building Industries - a group company of Mulk Holdings. Under a 2004 agreement between ABTI and Mulk Holdings, the brand and manufacturing rights were sold for exclusive use to Mulk Holdings.
The growth story then began, with a major expansion plan in the UAE with three production bases of six lines and a coil coating line, making the facility today perhaps the largest single production base in the world with over 8 million m² of capacity. Mulk Holdings then established Alubond Europe in Serbia, with a 2 million m² capacity, to cater to the established European market, and in 2010, Alubond DACS India Ltd was established to cater to Indian and Australasian markets.
This new facility will have two high-speed ACM production lines with an initial production capacity of 3 million m², planned to ramp up to 5 million m². A state of the art, high-speed coil coating facility suitable for coating both ACM and solid aluminium up to 2mm thickness, is also being established in Sri Lanka.
The new production bases in Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia will increase the installed production capacity of metal composite panels by June 2012 to over 15 million m² and coil coating capacity to over 20,000 tons a year, making Alubond USA the world's largest metal composite brand.
RigiSystems is already one of Europe's leading suppliers of aluminium construction systems, including Ziplok, the flagship standing seam brand. With Alubond products available in standard ACM types, and also with B and A2 fire-rated panels available as standard, RigiSystems believes that this major development will enable it to extend the companys focus from being predominantly roofs, to include a range of wall and facade systems.
By end of October 2011, 30,000 m² of standard materials will be available ex-stock from RigiSystems' 10,000 square metre headquarters facility in Worcester UK. Product will be supplied in full-sized flat sheets to system manufacturers, or as cut and routed panels, with all necessary accessories, for end users to assemble rainscreen panels and signage.
From early 2012 RigiSystems will introduce a new range of branded rainscreen products, each based on Alubond products.
RigiSystems Managing Director, Peter Taylor commented: These agreements mark a significant development in the on-going expansion of RigiSystems. We have for some time manufactured a small quantity of rainscreens, but have been seeking a truly high quality and fire-rated range of flat products in order to be able to satisfy our discerning client base. By the agreement with Alubond we believe we have secured that, and believe also that it paves the way for further growth in RigiSystems reputation, turnover and profitability.
Unlike many of our competitors we have remained profitable throughout the recession, by maintaining a high quality approach to both product and service. We are convinced that these priorities will enable Alubond to form the basis of significant growth for RigiSystems in what all agree is a plateaued European construction market
Chairman of Mulk Holdings, Mr. Shaji UL Mulk, said: As a producer of Alubond USA, the largest aluminium composite panels brand in the world, we are always searching for strong partners for distribution into the marketplace. With the aim of strengthening our positioning in Europe, we are very pleased to have joined forces with a successful company such as RigiSystems, with whom we expect long-term and successful cooperation in the placement of our products in strategically, important markets.
For Alubond Europe, Mrs. Sanja Uzelac commented: By initiating cooperation with RigiSystems we have completed our distribution network in Europe, and we strongly believe that we have found the right partner to fulfill the potential of the market.
