Riverscape, London

Riverscape, London

Within this project, the interior and exterior were dramatically changed and enhanced utilising fresh entry and security solutions. Located next to Southwark Bridge and a couple minutes’ walk from the bustling area of Cannon Street Station is Riverscape.

Originally opened back in 1980, the multi-storey office space was a modern development that sat on the sought-after area of the River Thames. This project was refurbished from top to bottom, with the original Boon Edam entrance solutions being upgraded to newer more innovative products.

A MEMORABLE THAMES RIVERSIDE PROJECT
The lead architect was Aukett Swanke, with interior designer Barr Gazetas leading the design of the refurbishment and the main contractors being Overbury. Working on this project years prior in relation to the old security lanes and revolving doors that Boon Edam installed, the London Sales team knew the building and requirements needed. It’s common to see dated installations be retrofitted with newer security products that modernise the look and feel of an entrance as well as upgrade the technology associated with them.

“After the release of the Lifeline Boost, it was clear that adding additional bar-code reading capabilities would be extremely useful for the reception desk and visitor management system.”

FILLED WITH INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY
One of the requirements was to replace the existing Speedlane 900s that were located in the atrium space with the new Lifeline Speedlane Swings. Being the slimmest security lane in the market, the Lifeline Swings have increased in popularity, offering a high level of security yet being customisable aesthetically. The second requirement was to replace the existing Tourniket doors with two new tall Crystal Tournikets. These new doors have curved glass walls and a glass soffit with dark PPC frames to match the full-height glass façade.

During the installation phase, there was a product release of the Lifeline Boost. The Boost is a pedestal that has the ability to add extra access control functionality to existing security lanes, such as bio-metric readings, card collections and bar-code scanning.

"Digital Forge worked with Boon Edam Limited to ensure Knight Frank achieved the best journey for visitors to Riverscape, 10 Queen Street Place, London.”

THE BENEFITS OF COLLABORATING TECHNOLOGY
The reception desk works via a management system linked to the security lanes. Having remote access to the lanes via reception allows for those authorised to open and close the lanes from afar. The Lifeline Boost slots onto the ends of an intermediate lane. Within this project, a bar-code scanner was installed into the Lifeline Boost by Bluepoint; this way, visitors can have a temporary access card that is collected and reused.

Graham Coulter, the Field Service Sales Executive at Boon Edam Limited, states: “The idea of bar-code scanners is so visitors can book in with reception, receive an entrance card and badge in and out through the lanes.”

BOON SELECT SPECIFICATION PROCESS
Working in collaboration with the London Team, the client had an already clear idea regarding the desired outcome of the new entrance. The UK team work through a process known as Boon Select. This process enables teams to generate, analyse and formulate the perfect entry scenario by going through seven key considerations. Being able to map out considerations enables better, more sustainable decisions that in turn highlights all aspects of the entry requirements. Running through a process like Boon Select means that no stone is left unturned.
