Rockfon ceilings mean business at Quorum

Rockfon ceilings mean business at Quorum

Located near the vibrant city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Quorum is one of the UK’s leading business parks. Developed by Grantside, it offers over 1.5million square feet of high specification offices with first class on-site amenities, including a nursery and sports club.

Grantside have been using Rockfon products for more than 15 years and specified over 200,000m2 of Rockfon Koral ceiling solutions for these speculatively built offices, as Peter Callaghan, Grantside’s Development Director explains: “Rockfon systems were chosen for several reasons, firstly because they can be installed in unoccupied, unheated buildings without suffering any detrimental effects from changes in moisture content in the air. The tiles are very durable, lightweight and easy to handle, yet still hardwearing. So much so, that at times tiles have even been taken from one building and reinstalled in another following fit out works, with no damage to their crisp, sharp appearance. The system met our acoustic requirements whilst also offering the highest degree of appearance, sustainability, quality and economic value.”

John Atkinson Interiors Ltd are a leading specialist sub-contractor and, as such, were able to negotiate with Grantside and Rockfon at an early stage to supply and install the ceilings throughout the scheme. Managing Director, Tony Hirst commented: “Our confidence in the quality of Rockfon and their product meant that we were able to offer the system to Grantside safe in the knowledge that all their functional and financial criteria would be satisfied, and this has proved to be the case.”

Rockfon’s Koral ceiling tiles were chosen for the project as they combine an attractive micro-textured white surface with excellent acoustics, fire safety and humidity resistant properties. Koral tiles are available in a variety of formats making them suitable for many applications, and they provide the freedom to work with individual and straightforward ceiling designs.

Rockfon ceilings are designed to minimise impact on the external environment while maximising the impact on internal spaces. Made from stone wool, a natural and renewable resource, Rockfon ceilings are fully recyclable at the end of their life, making them a truly sustainable solution. They also contribute to a healthy indoor environment with Class A1 fire safety and excellent acoustic properties. Very low VOCs ensure better indoor air quality and their high light reflectance makes effective use of all available light, helping to improve the comfort, health and productivity of building occupants.
