Stylish stainless steel and glass balustrades from Sapphire Balustrades helped to boost buyer appeal at a prestigious new residential development in central London. Balustrades for balconies, a roof terrace and communal stairs in luxury apartments at Brabazon House in Pimlico showcase the design flexibility of Sapphires distinctive range of core systems.
The development of Brabazon House, a six storey building, had to comply with Westminster City Councils strict planning regulations. By combining elements from its Crystal structural glass system and Onyx stainless steel tubular baluster system with bespoke detailing, Sapphire was able to offer a total balustrade solution which fulfilled the clients design specification and was sympathetic to the distinctive architecture.
Recessed, integrated balconies to selected apartments in the new residential development feature glazed balustrades from Sapphires Crystal frameless, structural glass system. No vertical support posts to impede views make Crystal balustrades a particularly popular choice for residential balconies. All base fixings were hidden using folded stainless steel cover trims. The Crystal systems elegant lines and timeless design appeal complement contemporary and traditional buildings like Brabazon House. At the top of the apartment block, the roof terrace balustrades combine clear toughened glass infill panels with 316 grade stainless steel balusters (uprights) and handrails. Sapphires fixing solutions for this external application include special handrail connections for complex corner balconies, together with neat weather proofing details for the balusters. Lockable access gates, which match the handrail system on the roof terrace, were incorporated to restrict access.
The combining of high design versatility with low maintenance durability, stainless steel balustrades from Sapphires Onyx range with clear toughened glass infill panels are also installed to communal stairways at Brabazon House matching those around the roof terrace.
Manufactured by Sapphire to the projects exacting design and quality standards, balustrades consist of Onyx tubular balusters and 50mm polished stainless steel handrails, which are offset from the glass panels on stairways to provide smooth, continuous support. The use of glass panel balustrades allows light to flood through stairwells, and creates a light, open aspect to balconies and the high level terrace where residents can enjoy views of London.
