Scottish Parliament Building

Scottish Parliament Building

Type of works: design, manufacture and site installation of blast-resistant hinged emergency escape doors.

Booth was awarded the design, manufacture and site installation of 13 blast-resistant hinged emergency escape doors on the Scottish Parliament Building in Edinburgh. The doorsets designed to resist high-blast loads from terrorist attack had to remain discrete and provide an external stone appearance on the façade of the building envelope.

Not only providing high-integrity protection, the doors had to provide ease of operation to modern DDA requirements, whilst supporting over 400kg of stone. A stainless-steel construction provides a long reliable design life.
