When a fire occurs it takes seconds for smoke to fill an area; it is almost impossible to evacuate to safely through reduced visibility, whilst battling with smoke inhalation.

Smoke ventilation allows the creation of a smoke-free layer above the floor by removing smoke from the area – actuators open high level fresh air inlet vents, allowing cool air into the building which in turn forces out hot air and smoke.

In an unventilated room smoke will rise and gradually spread moving laterally as it reaches the ceiling, it will then be forced back down into the room reducing visibility and escape.
