Unity Full Height's satin anodised aluminium flip indicator bolts come with an emergency release facility, so quick and safe access can be gained to locked cubicles in the event of an emergency. This makes Unity a popular choice in busy washroom areas.
The project
Shakespeare North Playhouse is a new £30m theatre in Prescott, Knowsley which has become a prominent landmark within the local area. The theatre’s aim is to bring people together to participate in a unique programme of performance, activities and conversations all inspired by William Shakespeare.
It’s the only 17th-century style timber theatre outside of London and boasts an outdoor performance garden, exhibition gallery, studio theatre, learning centre, exhibition and events spaces, and a café and bar with outdoor piazza.
The challenge
Construction of the traditional 470 seat timber framed Shakespearean theatre began in February 2020 and despite the impact of COVID-19, work onsite continued allowing the theatre to open its doors in July 2022. Working in conjunction with Accredited Installers T-IPS and Kier Construction, we adhered to strict timescales for delivery of our washroom systems so the theatre could open all facilities to its visitors.
With footfall expected to be high, robust and easy to maintain systems needed to be specified. It was imperative that the theatre toilets were not only robust and hard wearing, but needed to mirror the sleek design of the building too. The need for privacy was high on the priority list when it came to the washroom design, with the client expressing the desire to offer visitors maximum privacy whilst using the toilet facilities.
The solution
To guarantee user privacy, Unity Full Height was specified for the new toilets. Specified in durable, impact resistant High Pressure Laminate (HPL) the contemporary design with flush fronted doors makes this V1 cubicle range extremely popular. Where possible, pedestals have been set back on the partitions to give the cubicles their impressive floating appearance.
Unity is finished with sleek hardware that not only looks great but is durable and long-lasting too. The satin anodised aluminium flip indicator bolts come with an emergency release facility, so quick and safe access can be gained to locked cubicles in the event of an emergency. This makes Unity a popular choice in busy washroom areas.
The theatre also chose our Rapiduct washroom panelling for their WCs and urinals, all manufactured in HPL. Used in more heavily used washrooms, HPL is a heat, scratch and impact resistant material, so will withstand the demands of high footfall environments.
The theatre chose to specify their toilet cubicles and other washroom systems in our chic, modern ‘Gunmetal’ and ‘Cloud’ finishes for a clean and monochrome design which complemented the decor of the washrooms.
Venesta are so pleased to see our washroom systems installed at this impressive new theatre and are pleased to hear how well received the new facilities have been by staff and visitors.
