Sika Injection waterproofs Brandlesholme Bridge in Bury

Creating a waterproof curtain wall of resin to replace the existing failing waterproof decking, more than 8,000kg of Sika Injection-304 was applied from below to return the masonry arch bridge to its best without the need for road closures or any traffic disruption.

With minimal disruption and a fast application crucial, Bury Council turned to Sika and the company’s practical experience, technical expertise and market leading products for the construction industry.

Mark Nightingale, Principal Engineer, Bridge Maintenance at Bury Council said: “As a trusted manufacturer and supplier, Sika and the company’s Sika Injection-304 enabled us to carry out the vital improvement works without any disruption to traffic.”

Ideal for waterproofing of masonry and concrete structures, Sika Injection-304 is a very low viscous, elastic and very quick-gelling polyacrylic injection gel that creates a waterproof elastic curtain wall and has the advantage of proving good adhesion to both dry and wet substrates.

The bridge will now be protected from the onset of any further degradation for years to come whilst drivers and passengers using the road every day will benefit from a high quality waterproofing solution.
