Sika relaunches waterproofing contractor scheme

Sika has relaunched its Sika®-1 Registered Contractor scheme – an initiative that gives registered contractors the skills required, Sika Support, a competitive edge as well as providing clients with extra peace of mind.

The Sika®-1 Registered Waterproofing Contractors Scheme is designed to help facilitate the selection of suitable contractors to install Sika waterproofing materials. It provides total quality control – from product to service and installation – giving clients added reassurance that they will receive the highest standards of professionalism at every stage. To become a Sika®-1 Registered contractor, applicants must attend a training course at the Sika Waterproofing training academy in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.

Once they have qualified, Sika will continue to invest in their ongoing development and skills through monitoring and continual training where necessary, and Sika’s specialist waterproofing team will always be available to offer support. Sika®-1 is a product with a long-standing track record of high performance. Invented in 1910 by Sika founder Kaspar Winkler, Sika®-1 was originally developed as a quick setting waterproofing admixture for mortar, and was used to waterproof the Gotthard Tunnel, enabling the Swiss railway company to electrify this important connection between Northern and Southern Europe.

Now available as a BBA approved structural waterproofing system, the Sika®-1 Pre-Bagged Waterproofing System is made up of watertight renders and screeds produced using the Sika®-1 Waterproofing Liquid and Sika®-1 Pre-Batched Mortars. The mortars consist of a blend of special cement and kiln-dried graded aggregates and are packaged in four grades, each specifically designed for optimum application performance and durability.
