CPD: Simplifying Airtightness in Modular Construction
A Proctor Group
This CPD covers key design considerations involved in modular construction of all type of buildings. The presentation focuses on the use of the Wraptite® and Fireshield® vapour permeable membranes, and looks at building regulation compliance, strategies to manage the movement of heat, air and moisture in the building envelope, and considers good design and installation practice for air and vapour control membranes.
The presentation also covers fire spread and fire protection methods in façade construction, with a focus on the use of intumescent vapour permeable membranes.
Topics covered in this CPD:
• Principles of Designs for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA).
• Balancing heat, air and moisture in modular buildings.
• WUFI Hygrothermal assessment methods and benefits compared to Glaser method.
• Methods for offsite installation of membranes in modular construction.
• Part B Compliance of Façade construction
• BR135 & Mechanisms of fire spread
• Benefits of intumescent construction membranes
