The construction of the tallest timber frame building in France and one that has been designed to achieve the Passivhaus standard, required a comprehensive range of proven timber products.
Sivalbp® New Age Gris cladding provided the perfect contemporary finish to this all-wood project in a suburb of Paris. Designed by AA003 architects, the five-storey building in Montreuil has been built for client Grand Paris Habitat and recently won the Community Housing award at the 3rd annual Wood Awards 2016 (supported by the Ile De France region).
With energy efficiency one of the principal drivers in the design, more than 350m3 of wood has been used throughout the building including the timber frame, joinery, flooring, lift shaft as well as the external cladding. To provide a subtle yet durable facade, Sivalbp® New Age Gris Cladding was specified for its long-lasting, attractive aesthetics and superior technical properties.
The pre-painted Sivalbp® system also offered a more even weathering process and stylish appearance, befitting of this award-winning development. An increasingly popular specification on façade projects and part of an excellent range of cladding options in a range of species, profiles and decorative finishes, Sivalbp® pre-coated timber cladding is ideal for when an architect or designer desires a pleasing aesthetic finish.
Produced in a technically advanced production facility, the raw materials used to make Silvabp® cladding are taken through a demanding grading, processing and coating process. A 100% usable product with wastage-saving end-matching on boards, Silvabp® cladding is supplied in protective packaging for easy handling on site.
This stunning timber building has also achieved the French BEPOS label (Positive energy building) in addition to PassivHaus certification.
