Smart Fire products were chosen by Fabric Ten, designers and installers of Tensile Fabric structures, to create an alfresco barbeque and seating area with blended fire and water elements.

Fabric Ten specialise in creating permanent tensile structures – sail shades – for residential and commercial properties and these are at the centre of their business. They ensure that customers receive a great experience, from design to installation. “At Fabric Ten we look at each project as unique, and pride ourselves on delivering individual solutions for individual people,” stated architect/designer Michael Reed.

With this individual concept in mind, Fabric Ten undertook a project in the beautiful Kent countryside. A key component – and very unique concept – was the creation of an alfresco barbeque and seating area which blended the elements of fire and water piece within an individual garden feature.”

During the design process, Michael chose to use an Around Burner, which is place atop a specially designed, stainless steel chalice polished to a great finish. From this chalice the water flows into a sandstone pond in which the whole piece is set.

Unfortunately, Michael has had previous attempts at creating the effect, but without much success. “A previous company tried to use gas fire and water, but failed, so the whole design was changed to incorporate the Around Burner and chalice,” he explains.

“This solution is perfect for the garden environment, on both a residential and commercial level.”

To compliment the centre piece, the garden also contains two EcoSmart Fire Towers. These are situated at either side of the sandstone stairs leading to the courtyard. Combined with Fabric Tens signature sail shade in the design, it creates a great atmosphere at night, reflecting the carefully positioned lights and flame.
