Working with Optegra since 2009, IBI Group was appointed to work on the feasibility and design of a flagship ophthalmic hospital that would provide patients with both consultation and surgical services in a single facility in London’s medically prestigious Harley Street area.
Solid surface was a natural material choice for this project due to its non-porous nature, preventing surface dirt and stains from penetrating the material making it easier to clean. Solid surface is also a low VOC material which supports better indoor air quality making it perfectly suited for healthcare environments.
Three iterations of the Mono desk from Isomi feature in this project in three distinct areas of the space.
The first configuration of Mono features as the main reception desk. Specified at 1100mm high the upstand helps partially conceal staff computers while the placement of the DDA module adds a sense of direction, leading visitors to the waiting area.
A second version of Mono arranged as a smaller concierge style desk features in the consultation are on the first floor. The largest configuration of Mono was specified for use as a nurses’ station on the third floor.
Seamlessly jointed on site each iteration of the Mono desk benefits from a continuous surface, eliminating difficult to clean crevices that may harbour pathogens, simplifying routine cleaning and meeting the high performance demands of healthcare spaces.
