Type of works: supply and installation of TORMAX revolving entrance doors.
In a continuing drive to improve energy efficiency, the South Holland Centre in Spalding, a busy arts centre, theatre, cinema and functions venue, now benefits from a prestigious manual revolving entrance finished in bronze anodise, manufactured and installed by TORMAX UK Ltd. Replacing traditional swing doors, the three-wing revolving entrance has resulted in smoother flow of pedestrian traffic whilst also reducing heat-loss from the building at busy times.
Since the South Holland Centre was assessed by The Carbon Trust a number of improvements have been made to minimise energy consumption, including the installation of movement sensors to ensure lights are not left on in empty rooms. After a successful tender bid, TORMAX was contracted to deliver a modern, energy efficient revolving entrance that would also result in improved access. TORMAX is one of the UKs market leaders in bespoke entrance design and offers a wide range of options including sliding, swing, revolving and folding door systems to suit almost any location. Cutting-edge iMotion® technology ensures low-energy solutions when circumstances demand advanced door automation.
Originally built in the early 1970s and refurbished about ten years ago, the South Holland Centre attracts an average of about 150,000 people a year and offers a wide ranging programme of activities, functions and events to attract all sectors of the community. The recent modernisation of the foyer and installation of the TORMAX revolving door has been a further step forwards in the drive to minimise energy consumption.
