Longden handcrafted, solid timber doorsets, from Leaderflush Shapland, have been fitted in a number of the UK’s leading universities, including the prestigious St John’s College of the University of Cambridge.

Founded in 1511 by Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother of King Henry VII, and the second largest of the constituent colleges of the University of Cambridge, Longden solid timber doorsets were the natural choice befitting of the esteemed St John’s College.

149 doorsets, with 30 minute fire resistance, were supplied, including Chippendale raised and fielded panel, and Sheraton flat panel, door constructions, as well as vertical boarded doorsets. Without compromising design, Longden fire doors offer the most effective means of containing fire and smoke, so protecting historic building fabric without the damaging effects of sprinklers. All Longden fire resisting products are manufactured under the intensive BWF-CERTIFIRE Independent Product Conformity Scheme and are fully certified to recognised performance standards.

With a tradition of craftsmanship coupled with a passion for perfection, Longden solid timber doorsets has been gracing some of the UK’s finest buildings, including universities and colleges, for well over a hundred years.
