Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems, with their approved fabricator Anglian Architectural completed a new build school, St. Michaels, Kings Lynn in Norfolk. This new energy efficient school was built on reclaimed land, forming part of a local regeneration programme. It was built to cater for children from the former St. Michaels School as well as those moving into the ever growing area.

The project was completed using Comar 2 window walling with Comar 5Pi ECO windows and Comar 7 commercial doors. Comar 5P.i. ECO are thermally efficient polyamide insulated aluminium windows. These windows offer outstanding weather performance and reduce heat loss through the trademark P.i thermal break ensuring low U-values so energy bills are minimised. Comar 5P.i ECO is a casement window system which includes a 55mm & 75mm option. A top hung window
configuration was selected for St. Michaels, with some high-level windows were fitted with electric opening actuators.

In a busy educational environment Comar 7 commercial door sets are a natural choice. Not only are they available in swing, pivot, sliding, auto-sliding and sliding/folding, they have been designed specifically for commercial applications where high traffic solutions are required. At St Michaels both swing and automatic options were installed and for safety anti-finger trap stiles were specified.

All Comar approved fabricators are required to have the technical expertise to attend pre-site meetings and provide detailing. Anglian Architectural liaised closely with the architects and specifiers to provide design advice and detailing which ensured the project ran smoothly and met site deadlines. As part of the design specification on this project Anglian Architectural also supplied pyramid and mono-pitched roof-lights, canopies and solar shading.
