One of the most prestigious projects utilising Sta-Lok wire assemblies is the Millennium Bridge in central London.
Engineering designs were completed by Arup & construction by Monberg & Thorsen / Sir Robert McAlpine.
Officially opened 10th June 2000, the Millennium Bridge is London’s only pedestrian bridge and first new Thames crossing since Tower Bridge in 1894, it further allows pedestrians uninterrupted panoramic views of London.
Sta-Lok manufactured all balustrade fittings, which have uniform thread lengths when tensioned to provide a clean line and be aesthetically pleasing. Sta-Lok's cables run the entire length of the bridge 325 metres (1,066 ft).
In total, Sta-Lok provided over 8km of 10mm stainless steel wire rope, across 26 assemblies. Fork & Sta-Lok Supajust fittings feature at both end to tension and adjust the wire.
Sta-Lok’s Supajust turnbuckle range feature bronze inserts to ensure superb adjustment, even under high load without the risk of seizing or galling.
