Stainless steel furniture for Sale Town Hall redevelopment

Stainless steel furniture for Sale Town Hall redevelopment

ASF were involved in the redevelopment of Sale Town Centre, which included the provision of new facilities and refurbishment of the existing Town Hall.

The external works transformed an existing 'back of house' access road and service yard into a new urban plaza providing a public open space for the people of Sale. The landscape strategy was to create a contemporary European square providing vibrant and interactive space in the centre of Sale. A palette of street furniture of steel and hardwood timber, created a coherent language to complement the palette of paving materials.

The furniture at the Town Hall was to co-ordinate with the square, with marine grade stainless steel the chosen material, as it is very low maintenance and offers the required contemporary look. In order to modernise Sale Town Hall frontage and surrounding areas, ASF delivered stainless steel street furniture items to be used in a series of eye catching formats.

The ASF 5008/114 stainless steel bollard with satin brushed bases and highly polished machined tops was coordinated with the ASF 5050 stainless steel telescopic bollard to allow vehicular access. Chain barrier systems were also used to cordon off certain areas.

For permanent barrier areas, the ASF 5006 stainless steel bollard was chosen with 50mm diameter stainless steel rails as a complimentary scheme. At the front of the Town Hall, perforated stainless steel panels were added to create an architecturally pleasing barrier. ASF 5006 step units were also used at the front of the building.

The Sale Town Hall has been modernised with a clean contemporary look that co-ordinates with the surrounding public realm.
