Following a lightning strike at this South Kensington property, this client had a temporary timber staircase installed to maintain safe access while the original steel staircase was assessed.

Shaw Security was then contracted to refurbish the existing steel structure and install new heavy-duty chequer-plate stair treads and landing panels.

The completed works included:

• Refurbishment of the original steel staircase
• Installation of new steel stair treads
• New chequer-plate landing surfaces
• Repairs and preparation to the existing steelwork
• Protective black finish throughout
• Final adjustment and inspection

Rather than replacing the complete staircase, the original structure was retained and brought back into service—providing the client with a strong, practical and cost-effective result.
