A Stannah 2000kg goods attendant lift was chosen as the solution for the safe transit of goods and people in the Receipt and Distribution Unit of Kings College Hospital Business Park in the London Borough of Lambeth.
The lift allows goods to be accompanied by up to two people whilst the lift travels between two floors at a speed of 0.140 m/s a distance of 3225mm.
This through-entrance bed lift is finished inside with galvanised steel walls and anti-slip steel chequer plate floor to ensure a robust interior throughout the service life of the lift. Fully automatic 4-panel centre-opening car and landing doors, measuring 1400mm x 2100mm, are finished in steel, as is the car, which measures a roomy 1400mmW x 2400mmD. A push-button control panel is provided in the lift car and adjacent to each landing door for the attendant(s) to use. Access to operate the lift from the landing is via key card operation to ensure use only by designated persons.
This hydraulic goods lift was specified by surveyor, Wayne Everitt, of Wilby & Burnett: We specified this lift mainly because it did not require a pit. We were able to retrofit with relative ease thanks to its structure-supported capability no structural shaft was required, or a significant foundation. We simply cast a small raft foundation and the lift fitted easily. We have also installed a Stannah passenger lift on the Kings College Hospital Business Park, and both lifts have proved cost-effective people-and-goods-moving solutions.
